VSC at Newtech
VSC member Danny Broadbent and Custodianship Team member Jose Diacono gave a presentation entitled "Data sharing What's Happening" at the Newtech conference on 17th June 2010. Highlights of the presentation were
- The announcement that a majority of the people in the room could now access electricity network data from SPAusNet. A revised Custodianship Agreement with this company means Emergency Services, State and Local Government, some agencies and all Local Councils may now access the datasets.
- Some exciting examples from the Appmystate Victorian mashups competition of innovative and highly professional websites and mobile phone applications that exploit public sector data. A total of 92 datasets and data tools including Vicmap lite spatial datasets from the DSE and Metrolink timetable and route data was released especially for the competition. The winners are well worth a look.
- A summary of the Terms and Conditions for using Google Maps and Bing which prospective users should
be aware of. The VSC has researched these on behalf of its members and published Guidance Notes.
